Where MacHerald Comes Out Ahead
The Base plan has the same memory and storage as M4.S on a newer chip, for $50 less a month. Premium matches M4.M on memory and storage and costs $80 less. Over a year that's $960 per Mac.
MacHerald sells only the M6. The MacStadium plans compared here use the M4, so CPU-bound builds should finish sooner on an M6.
Our Macs are in the NYC Metro area, which helps if you're driving Screen Sharing from the Northeast, or if your other servers are in US East.
Where MacStadium Is the Better Choice
You can get a Mac from MacStadium today; you can't from us yet. It also sells hardware we don't, like the M4 Pro with 48 GB and Mac Studio, and plans with 1 to 2 TB of storage.
Orka is the other big one. If you want to spin macOS virtual machines up and down for each CI job, MacStadium has built that and we haven't. Larger companies that want annual or multi-year terms will find those at MacStadium too.
How We Compared
We read the public pricing page at macstadium.com on October 24, 2026 and compared plans with matching memory and storage. We didn't count setup fees, promotions, or annual prepay pricing. Compare against all providers on Mac mini hosting prices, or see MacHerald pricing.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a cheaper alternative to MacStadium?
MacHerald rents a dedicated Apple M6 Mac mini for $99 a month. The closest MacStadium plan, M4.S, is an M4 with the same 16 GB of memory and 256 GB SSD for $149 (prices checked October 24, 2026). MacHerald is sold out right now and takes signups on a waitlist.
Does MacStadium offer the M6 Mac mini?
MacStadium mentions M5 and M6 upgrades on its bare metal page, but its public price list on October 24, 2026 topped out at the M4 and M4 Pro for Mac mini. MacHerald sells only M6 Mac minis.
Is MacHerald a good fit for a large team?
MacHerald suits people and small teams who want one to a few Macs at a fixed monthly price. A team that needs dozens of Macs, Orka virtualization, or Mac Studio hardware today is better served by MacStadium.
Can I move my CI from MacStadium to MacHerald?
Yes, if your CI runs on a plain macOS host over SSH. GitHub Actions self-hosted runners, Buildkite agents, Jenkins agents, and fastlane all install the same way on a MacHerald Mac. Orka-specific workflows would need to be rebuilt.
